Community Meeting 1: IS Young Talent Event for IS Doctoral Students

Description

The IS Young Talent Event for doctoral students of the WI 2025 is aimed at doctoral students in Information Systems or related disciplines who are interested in an academic career. The 3-hour event is sponsored by the association “Die WI e.V.”.

Why take part in the Young Talent Event?
The aim of the Young Talent Event for Doctoral Candidates is to show interested doctoral candidates potential paths in science and give them the opportunity to find out more about specific areas of focus. In this way, we want to support doctoral students in deciding for or against an academic career and help them to set the right course as early as possible. Furthermore, we want to promote the exchange between postdocs, junior professors and doctoral students.

Program
At the event, postdocs and junior professors will give short presentations on their academic careers and specific areas of focus. Following the presentations, there will be an informal exchange between the speakers and participating doctoral students. Finally, doctoral students will have the opportunity to discuss their research topics and doctoral progress in a professional and personal context and to network with each other in the Doctoral Student Corner. The session is intended as a loosely moderated networking event based on various topic and progress tables. Afterwards, we will go together to the Welcome Reception for a relaxed exchange with the other conference participants.

  • 15:30–16:00: Welcome speech
  • 16:00–16:30: Impulse-Keynote Jason Thatcher
  • 16:30–17:15: Short presentations
